11:06 a.m. - Just left and we are going down the mountain.

11:36 a.m. - Just got on the 10 freeway

11:46 a.m. - Getting on the 91 Freeway

11:50 a.m. - We are in bad traffic

11:52 a.m. - We had a nice surprise when breakfast was changed to French toast and ham.  And then we had cinnamon rolls for a snack before we got on the bus.  We are ont he 91 freeway on the way home sitting in bad traffic.  We will see you soon!  The kids will be ready for lunch when you pick them up.

12:00 p.m. Traffic is cleared up and we are moving along smoothly.

6:30 a.m. Thursday

Good morning!  It is mixed emotions for the studetns right now.  They are happy to come home to their families that they've missed and they are also sad that their camp experience is coming to a close.  They will be thankful for no more 3 minute showers though!

Our schedule:

8:00 a.m. - breakfast: eggs, pears, cranberry bran muffins & oatmeal

9:30 - Talking stick

10:00 - snack, restrooms

11:00 - buses depart

I will keep you updated on our ETA (estimated time of arrival) home.  It was a pleasure for us to have your 5th graders this week at OSS and we sure missed the ones that didn't come!

P.S.  The kids will be hungry and ready for lunch right when we come home because the last time they would have eaten is a snack at 10:00 a.m.  Have a very restful and wonderful Easter and Spring Break!

Wednesday 6:30 a.m. - Rise & Shine!

Overall, when asked, the students' favorite part of camp so far is the food and the hikes.  They were asked to name 3 things they liked about camp, and one student said, "Breakfast, lunch & dinner!" 

Parents, at least you know they aren't starving!

Today's schedule:

7:30 a.m. - weather talk

8:00 a.m. - breakfast: pancakes and sausage

9:15-11:30 a.m. - last hiking trails (Wildlife, Ecology & Geology).

(Teachers get a break during this time. Yay!)

12:30 p.m. - Lunch: Mac n cheese, chicken nuggets & broccoli

1:55 p.m. - writing/drawing activity

2:50 p.m. - Hoedown dance (This is so much fun!)

5:30 p.m. Dinner: spaghetti, green beans & garlic bread

6:45 p.m. - Skit Night

8:15 p.m. - camp closing

9:30 p.m. Lights out

6:41 a.m.  Tuesday:

Yawn.  It's up and at 'em!    The students are just waking up  I'm pretty exhausted myself, so I cannot imagine how the kids are feeling, but they are a lot younger and have more energy than old Mrs. Terich!  Going up and down these steep hills is good exercise but takes a lot more energy in this high altitude.  Today is a full day of activity, so I will not be able to post a lot. 

But here's our day:

7:30 a.m. - I'm checking individually on all the Plavan kids to see how they are feeling and if there are any concerns.

8:00 a.m. - Breakfast: flour tortillas, scrambled eggs, cheese, salsa & hash browns

9:15-11:30 a.m. - Ecology, Geology & Wildlife Hiking Trails (Ms. Urban is teaching Ecology & Mrs. Terich is teaching Wildlife)

1:50 p.m. - Camp photo

5:30 p.m. - Dinner:  chicken teriyaki with white rice & carrots

6:50 p.m. - Astronomy/Night Hike & s'mores

9:30 p.m. - Lights out

9:15am Monday - We're on our fancy charter bus 
getting on the freeway. Nobody has 
barfed & nobody is crying...yet. We are 
good to go. OSS get ready for us! 



10:25 a.m. Monday:

Starting to head up the mountain!  Kids have
been very quiet watching the movie on the bus.
I think they are a bit sleepy.

10:33 a.m. Monday:
We are entering the San Bernardino Forest.

10:46 a.m. Monday:

We have arrived to Forest Home.  Students are
really excited!  I spent many many summers here
for church camp, but now I am here with 88
fifth graders for Outdoor Science School!

2:20 p.m. Monday:
We had a yummy lunch: turkey 
sandwiches, fritos & salad and
now the students are off on their Discovery hike.

It's been a great day so far!  
Kids have met students from the other Tustin 
School that is here.  We had a yummy lunch: Turkey
sandwiches, fritos & salad.  After lunch they went
on a Discovery Hike & are practicing
right now for Skit Night.  Next is pizza dinner,
Astronomy/Night Hikes & s'mores!
